The Neighborhood
This elegant 1943 garden lane house is located near the entrance of Fuxing Park off of Huaihai Rd (former Avenue Joffre) in the heart of the French Concession. After practicing morning Taichi in the park, you can stroll down the leafy Sinan Rd nearby to visit the former residences of famous historical Chinese revolutionaries, Dr. Sun Yat-Sen and Chou En-Lai. Continue down a little further, you will reach the design-conscious Bridge 8 Creative Complex and the bohemian Taikang Rd (Tianzifang) area, where small boutiques and cafes are hidden within meandering alleys, or "longtangs" as the Shanghainese call them.
There are plenty of cafes and local Chinese eateries near the house on Nanchang Rd, Sinan Rd, and Yandang Rd; a supermarket is right next door for some fruits and quick snacks. A short hop to the east, you will find Xintiandi a restored cluster of Shikuman buildings now housing a selection of trendy Chinese and western restaurants and bars, as well as boutique shops. The Huangpi South Rd station of subway line 1 and the Xintiandi station of subway line 10 are also nearby, which can take you to major exchange hubs, People's Square further east and Xujiahui to the southwest, as well as Hongqiao to the west.
The House
Ground Floor
The house has a lovely dining room looking out to the garden. This is where you will enjoy your western or Chinese breakfast prepared by our dexterous housekeeper-cook.
Our Rooms:
Wifi internet is available throughout the house free-of-charge. All bedrooms are equipped with LCD TV, satellite channels, and DVD players. Linens and towels are provided. The entire house is non-smoking but you can use the garden to smoke.
2nd Floor
Water bedroom: Queen-size bed with working table and closet, attached private bathroom.
Earth bedroom: Queen-size bed with working table and closet, attached private bathroom.
2 1/2 Floor
Grass bedroom: Queen-size bed with working table and closet; use of private bathroom located one floor below the room.
3rd Floor
Sun-Moon Suite: Living room + bedroom with en-suite bathroom; the walking closet and balcony make this room ideal for longer stays. King-size bed + full-size sofa bed in the living room can sleep up to 4 people.
